Now I have a number of self-hosted web sites, including this one. I have plenty of server space, and I develop websites for a living (amongst other things).

Summarizing RSS Feeds

Moving A Wordpress Blog – Table Prefixes

When you set up a new blog, by default the table prefixes are wp_
If you have any other prefix for that blog, you frighten yourself when you import the SQL data, as it doesn’t work!
Quick fix to that… go into the wp-config file and look for the line with wp_  in, and change it to [...]

Wordpress 2.5 Dashboard Error

I recently upgraded this blog to Wordpress 2.5. Everything appears to be fine. However when I went to upgrade The Eye, I had a number of issues. One of them was that I couldn’t access the dashboard, when I clicked on site admin.

This plug-in works prety darn well to filter all the comment spam on your blog. When you first start a new blog you won’t get much, but rest assured the spammers find you faster than Google on speed, and then every darn post has a few dozen links for sites for you and your readers [...]
