Now I have a number of self-hosted web sites, including this one. I have plenty of server space, and I develop websites for a living (amongst other things).
However, I am really taken withPosterous" href="http://posterous.com/" target="_blank"> Posterous.
It’s so easy to build a blog with it.
There is nothing to do except email Posterous. You don’t even have to join up. Mind you it’s a good idea to do so, as then you can do some Cool stuff.
Basically it works like this. You email post@posterous.com and it makes a blog for you, it’s a simple as that.
If you set yourself up a free account you can then register verious email addresses you can post from to the same blog. You might have a personal email account, a work email account, and a mobile one. You can also add friends and family as contributors if you wish.
You can point a domain of your own at it. You can add Google Analytics to it to get stats on who visits your blog, just as if you were hosting it yourself.
And know there a great new bookmarklet that lets you add stuff from a huge range of sites including YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, Photobucket, Seesmic and many more.
I recommend it simply for the ease of use in which you can add stuff you find for others to see. You can even get Posterous to re-post to your own blogs, to your Facebook account, and to Twitter.
Check it out. I’m sure you’ll not be disappointed.
