Posterous is Cool

Now I have a number of self-hosted web sites, including this one. I have plenty of server space, and I develop websites for a living (amongst other things).
However, I am really taken with Posterous.
It’s so easy to build a blog with it.
There is nothing to do except email Posterous. You don’t even have to join [...]

Summarizing RSS Feeds

I’ve seen much comment and discussion about the practice of summarizing RSS feeds.
The idea behind doing this, is to encourage those that take your feed to come to your blog. They get interested enough in reading the first two or three hundred words of your latest article, that they click on the ‘more’ link.
This gets [...]

Talking About Social Media Tools

Oh no! I hear you say. Not yet another article about Social Media Tools!
Well, no not exactly.
But still, us techie types do tend to go on about our tools a lot don’t we?

Wordpress 2.5 Image Upload Error

Ok, Wordpress 2.5 is a nice upgrade.
Well it was until I wanted to add some images. The new ‘add media’ link was fine at adding images to a blog post that were already on the computer, but I got http errors when I tried to upload from the computer.
Still do not dispair! Here’s what [...]

Wordpress 2.5 Dashboard Error

I recently upgraded this blog to Wordpress 2.5. Everything appears to be fine. However when I went to upgrade The Eye, I had a number of issues. One of them was that I couldn’t access the dashboard, when I clicked on site admin.
I could get around this by editing a post instead, which took me [...]

Moving A Wordpress Blog

I’ve been thinking about moving my personal blog for some time. It’s in a sub-directory, which is untidy looking to say the least, and perhaps that might affect SEO, or page ranking in some way. Anyway, what really spurned me on was an upgrade.
For some reason, upgrading to Wordpress 2.5 worked on some blogs, and [...]
